  21. The board isn't vaporware, I had it for testing but only with a 68040 on it.
  22. Not only phase5 seemes to have problems in getting 68060s.

  24. It works fine with GVP-SIMMs and PS/2-SIMMs. You can mix these SIMM-types. The
  25. board has 8 sockets where always two sockets build a "team". That means that
  26. you only can use one socket of a team at a time. With PS/2-SIMMs a maximum of
  27. 128 MByte is possible.

  29. It's a pitty that M-Tec removed the serial and the parallel port otherwise it
  30. really would be a great thing for A2000 owners I think. The 68040 works at
  31. 40MHz, the speedup compared to the original GVP GForce40 is equivalent to the
  32. more MHz it has.

  34. The SCSI-port works fine, it's slightly slower than the GURU-ROM in maximum
  35. readspeed but has more CPU-time left. With a Quantum LPS525S I got nearly 2,8
  36. MB/sec max. readspeed and 87% CPU-time left. With the GURU-ROM I get little
  37. over 2,8 MB/sec and 67% CPU-time left.

  39. It seemes as if the device uses a big buffer because I got a directory scan
  40. with over 5000 files/sec and no CPU-time left.

  42. Because of my damaged internal Amiga serial port and the missing serial port
  43. on the M-Tec board I could not check out whether the M-Tec board has the same
  44. problems in receiving data through the serial port during SCSI-bus activity
  45. like the GVP GForce40 or not. Maybee the new Jumper called "DMA ignores
  46. Interrupt/DMA Back Off for Interrupt" will solve this problem.

  48. Overall I can say that the board works fine. A good thing is that the
  49. chips/sockets are placed on the other side of the board than they are on the
  50. GVP GForce40. Placing the board in the socket on the A2000 motherboard is
  51. really easier to do. The external SCSI-port got a HD-Connector.

  53. Updating the board to the 68060 (50MHz) should be an easy thing as written in
  54. the manual. All necessary parts got sockets.
